What Is ‘The Pink Cloud’ When Becoming Soberminded

Have you ever heard of the pink cloud?

It is often described as a kind of euphoria you feel in early sobriety or the early part of the journey of becoming more sober minded.

It’s when you’re having a lot of breakthroughs and it’s really exciting!

It's almost like a bubble you're living in where everything is new and you're feeling good.

It’s a great feeling while it last but what do you do when you feel like the pink Cloud start to lift?

I know it can feel overwhelming…

You start to think “what do I do now?”

If you've been on this journey for a while, you know that complacency can slip in.

The euphoria that's at the beginning of your journey can start to drift away.

You may find yourself back into a lot of the scenarios or social settings that may have caused you to want to check out in the first place.

Or you may find yourself in situations you were able to avoid so far.

Or situations you were able to handle with all the accountability you have in place when you started out.

No matter the situation, we need our own internal boundaries.

What to do when the pink Cloud kind of lifts:

1. Set realistic expectations for yourself.

Not everyday of sober minded living is a bed of roses. This is not about rainbows and unicorns here.

Just because you're alcohol free and on this journey to become more present in your life, doesn’t mean that you're not going to have hard days and overwhelming emotions.

I think sometimes in early sobriety, it's very new and exciting but when that excitement wanes we have to be prepared for…

The boring days,

The lonely days.

The times that we're socialising and we miss a drink in our hand, but we don't necessarily want to put one back in it.

Having realistic expectations will really help with that.

2. The power of connection.

Connection keeps you out of isolation.

Isolation is what breeds that numbing or negative behaviour that you can get away with when you're by yourself.

It's easier to break promises to ourselves, sometimes maybe more painful, but easier.

When we're connected with other people and we have accountability, people care if we show up, and how we show up, we are more likely to follow through with our goals.

In community we are more likely to feel encouraged.

Listen, I know what it feels like to be going against the grain and beating to your own drum out there.

So having like-minded sisters and having women like in the Sober Sis tribe who I can just reach out to for connection with other women who get it is such a game changer.

You won't get complacent when you’re well connected!

If you're looking for more connection, I really want to invite you to check out the next 21 day reset.

We begin on the first of every month but you can join us at any time and start getting connected right away!

3. Keep building your Sober minded toolbox.

The best way to combat the pink cloud is by giving yourself practical tools to help you with obstacles that you face.

Not just leaning on what you learn at the very beginning of your journey but keep learning and gaining new tools as you go.

I love sharing the resources that have helped me the most.

If you're looking for practical tools I encourage you to download my free guide right now!

I share my top five strategies for 1 wine o’clock tonight and start building your Sober minded toolbox.

It's just like working out!

You go to the gym and do a challenge, like a whole 30.

When you get to the gym everything's new and exciting.

It's almost like a pink Cloud at the gym and you feel like “Yes! I love this!”

But after a while you can reach the Plateau.

You hit a point where you do the same reps over and over… your muscles know what to expect and you quit seeing any progress.

So what do you do?

You can get discouraged and want to quit.

OR you can change up your workout.

You can do something different!

That's what I encourage you to do on your sober-minded journey.

If you find yourself coming out of the pink cloud or your plateauing and dealing with complacency…

Change it up!

Challenge yourself to do something alcohol-free and soberminded that you’ve never done before.

Find something you’ve been putting off doing like dancing or going to a wedding sober-minded.

Nothing will shake you up more than having a great time, alcohol-free, remembering it all, and loving it!

4. Share your Story!

Another great way to get out of the rut is to share your story with someone.

I find it always ignites me when I tell someone where I've been, where I am now, and where I'm going.

It really breathes fresh life into my sober-minded journey and keeps me from being complacent.

I want that for you too!

Your sis,

Jenn 💕
